Hi! My name is Maria, and I am the woman behind The Officiant. As I sit here thinking about what I'm going to write, how I'm going to tell you about me…I can't help, but chuckle to myself. Let's be honest, it's not always easy to write about oneself, to talk about who we are as a person. I'm sure you know what I mean. But I'm going to do my best to describe myself in the most real way possible. I think most simply put I am who you see, who you meet, who you talk to. Whether you're a friend I've known for 30 years or someone I've just met for the first time, my personality radiates the same. I, Maria Pelton, am a people person. I love people; people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, you name it! I love interacting with people, talking with people, and connecting with people. Honestly, it's hard for me to think of a time when I didn't.

“I was adopted from Florida as an infant and grew up in a small, rural town in Southern Vermont with a population of roughly 600 people. At the time they used to say that there were more cows in town than people, and I'm pretty sure that in fact was the case. I went to a one-room school house during my elementary school years before going to a larger school in NY State for Junior High and High School. I rode horses growing up, swam on a local swim team, and had a love for dogs that was impossible to miss, and still is to this day. If you have a dog and we have the opportunity to connect via Zoom I'd love to meet them :)

I went to trade school for culinary arts and in addition to running a professional wedding officiant business I also run a home-based bakery; specializing in custom cakes and cupcakes. No, I don't do wedding cakes, but it's a good thought!” What else would you like to know about me?
